This adorable dog took his freedom ride today. He was so scared of the leash and didn't know if he should trust us. But when we loaded him in the rescue jeep, he looked in our eyes with such softness. We named him Najee, and he is perfect. Strayrescue.org

Minkus! Minkus! MINKUS! Corey Matthews, Boy Meet World Meet the duo that will make your holidays VERY happy! Barrel and Minkus are a barrel of laughs and will not only keep you entertained, but also warm your heart. They first met in their foster’s home, and after that first meeting, they’ve been inseparable. Barrel is the life of the party- ready to play, and absolutely loves attention, but he’s a great friend for Minkus. Minkus is a little bit shy, but when he’s with his bestest friend in the whole wide world, he is much more confident and comfortable! Both of them love kids (they know kids are the BEST for fun and games) and are always down for pets and snuggles. If you’re interested in the best duo of 2020, please email Kaylee at [email protected]!

This house was pretty scary. But we had to go in because this little guy had gotten himself in the house and was too scared to come back out. He is out safe now and back home with his family where he belongs!

It's pretty incredible to look back at Riley's before photos. He was so frail and near death the day we found him. We follow this big, happy, beefy boy on Instagram and almost can't remember him weak. He struck gold with a forever dad who takes him everywhere. Second chances are awesome! Check out his page @Riley_STL #WARRIOR

Introducing our team member of the month, Ashley, one of our amazing certified Veterinary Technicians! Since her first day at Stray Rescue, she has never been too busy to answer questions or offer help to other departments - she's a key player in our clinic. It’s difficult to find her in a bad mood or without a smile on her face. She possesses a great sense of humor and uses that to help cope with difficult situations. Ashley treats animals and people with respect and dign...ity and has been a wonderful addition to the Stray Rescue family. Congratulations Ashley, and thank you to STL Freight for coming over to reward her with a $100 gift! Strayrescue.org

Ready to adopt? Shiloh and Sirius are true delights! There are many things we can say about them that are true of many cats: they are sweet, they are fun, they are adorable. That's all true, and all animals are special, so we want to highlight what would make a good fit for a forever home for these two. Shiloh is the more outgoing one of the two. They both had a slumber pawty recently at another foster and as soon as she hopped out of the cage she was ready to play and cudd...le. Sirius took a couple of hours to warm up but he was ready for cuddles and play that very same day. The kitties are fine being left alone with each other. They are currently in a foster home with an older cat that doesn't love them, but at their slumber pawty they were with a 7-year-old cat and everyone got along swimmingly, so they would be completely fine with other cats if the cats are fine with them! They have met dogs and are curious, but slightly afraid. They would do well in any type of home in terms of activity level because they are great at keeping each other entertained but always love to play with humans as well. If you are looking for social cats who can be independent, these are your kitties! Adopting them together is not only good for them, but also good for you! They are so great at playing with each other and really love each other. Seeing them cuddle warms our hearts and watching them play is hilarious. They love to be held like babies and are great at giving kisses. Apply to adopt Shiloh & Sirius right here! Strayrescue.org/adoption-application

"What sets Stray Rescue of St. Louis apart in the animal welfare community near and far? We seek out and take in those who no other organization will help or would simply euthanize because they are too expensive to heal. We take the abandoned, beaten, bred, fought, injured, terrified, defeated and betrayed. We see beyond their brokenness and are here to pick up the pieces to make these special animals whole again. We see the individual and know that there’s no one size fits ...all treatment plan. The minute they enter our doors, we look in their eyes and promise them ALL the second chance they deserve for health, home, commitment and love. Because these animals come in with a story that would give us all nightmares, it takes them longer to open up, trust and believe in humankind again. But with patience and time always on their unique schedule we see the light shine in their eyes again. Animals have an amazing ability to forgive which never ceases to amaze me. My goal and vision for the future of the City of Saint Louis and surrounding Metro area is to have the largest inner-city animal sanctuary. We would love to find a compassionate and generous donor to gift Stray Rescue a large warehouse in the city with some acreage to convert into an amazing space for our animals to live and heal on their timeline. Our sanctuary will include large kennels, play yards, a swimming area, agility and enrichment activities and much more. We will have several dog apartments furnished with a home-like atmosphere, so the staff and their enrichment partners can spend time with the dogs to help them experience the comforts of what a true home is like. Additionally, we would like to partner with smaller rescue organizations that don’t have the resources they need by pulling their behaviorally challenging dogs, rehabilitate them, and help them find loving homes. Will you join us today to help make our dream a reality? You can help us once again change the landscape of animal welfare in St. Louis and give every dog the individualized attention they need and deserve for as long as it takes. If you would like to discuss this more or have property you'd like to donate, please contact [email protected]. Let's make this happen." I just wanted to THANK each and everyone of you. Because of YOU this is happening as we speak. Not only have we pulled over 500 animals this year alone from rural areas in Missouri we are also able to expand our reach because of you . 210 heartbeats are being flown off 4 islands today from kill shelters and going to multiple shelters through out the US. Because of you we can expand our reach. I can never THANK you enough for always stepping up for the animals and being their HEROS and MINE. Fostering truly saves LIVES! You all made my Birthday wishes come true.. xo Cassady And yes, Donna is always climbing in something no matter where she is. ;-)

We still need your help! We need twenty more people to decide they are ready to foster! We’re rescuing FIFTY+ dogs and cats this weekend who are at risk for euthanasia. Let us tell you, these babes are PERFECT and they deserve to live their life! They were born, their hearts are beating and their tails are wagging. But there is no one to give them a chance. Can you help us save them?? To sweeten the deal, we give you everything you need, including vet care! Fostering w...ill cost you $0, but you will have saved a life. What greater gift can you give than that? If you are ready for the experience of a lifetime, email [email protected] after you fill out a foster app! Let’s do this!!!
