We have a store-full of winter greens + more this week - Spinach, Red Russian & Curly Kale, Swiss Chard, Lettuce Mix & Tatsoi. Order by 4pm Tuesday for pick-up or delivery Wednesday from 3-5pm. That would be in time to make this Tatsoi - Sunflower Seed Pesto recipe for dinner Wednesday evening! 8 oz fresh tatsoi * 1/3 - 1/2 cup good olive oil 2 cloves garlic, crushed 1/3 cup grated parmesian cheese... 1/4 cup sunflower seeds 1 tsp lemon juice flaky sea salt to taste * A variation is to use half tatsoi & half spinach. Tatsoi is sometimes referred to as "spinach mustard" Remove any dry or really tough tatsoi stem ends. In food processor, drizzle a little bit of the oil. Place all greens inside. Add the garlic and nearly all of the oil. Pulse a couple of times. Add the seeds and pulse a few more times. Add the cheese, lemon juice, and bit of salt. Pulse until a thick sauce is formed. If you want the sauce thinner, add more oil. It is rich and will cover about 1 1/2 lbs pasta. There are also many other uses, like placing over chicken before baking.

Rodger is working his winter magic on the lettuces that will make up the Winter 2021 Lettuce Mix .... fingers crossed, these plants will be big enough to harvest in early February.

Wednesday and Saturday (10/28 & 10/31) are the last pick-up dates until November 18 & 21... just before Thanksgiving cooking. There are veggies in the On-Line Farm Store that are your last chance at summer goodness - tomatoes & cucumbers for example - plus lots of winter squash, freshly cut fall greens, pears, apples, pie pumpkins, eggs and sweet potatoes to keep "local" in your menu until November 18th. Cooler temperatures make for Happy Fall Greens! We have beautiful loose leaf lettuce, Rainbow Swiss Chard, large leaf Portuguese Kale & a bouquet of sweet Siberian & Russian Kales now in the On-Line Farm Store. The potential frost tonight makes the slicing & cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers & tomatillos even more prized than ever, although we expect some stored and/or ripening items may be available next week. Seriously, I know we've featured the beans from our On-line Farm Store in FB posts more times this growing season than all other items except for tomatoes. We just don't want you to miss out since it so late in the season to find fresh green beans anywhere else! So here is a green bean picture one last time in 2020! Speaking of tomatoes - there are still limited amounts of red slicers this week and actually more Cherry Tomato Snack Baskets than last week. Don't miss out on the opportunity to use Anaheim Peppers at their finest - when they turn red! They are a medium heat pepper with lots of sweet flavor and many cooking options. We love to freeze roasted Anaheims for winter long enjoyment. Okra flowers sure do resemble flowers from Rose of Sharon and hibiscus bushes.
