Bradley Beal is a shooting guard for the Washington Wizards. The St. Louis native was the third overall pick of the 2012 NBA draft. When he is not on the court,... he is trying to make a difference in the community. Bradley is part of the ownership team for the PowerPlex, a sports complex housed at the old St. Louis Mills Outlet Mall. He chose to be apart of this organization as it will make an impact on kids for decades to come. Katherine Dunham was an anthropologist, choreographer, scholar, writer and one of the most successful dancers in African American and European theater of the 20...th century. She was the first African American woman to attend the University of Chicago, where she earned her bachelor, masters and doctoral degrees in anthropology. Katherine also changed American dance in the 1930s by going back to the roots of black dance and rituals while creating the Dunham Technique. For nearly 30 years she ran the Katherine Dunham Dance Company, the only self-supported American black dance troupe at that time. Katherine was an advocate for racial equality and refused to perform at segregated venues to highlight discrimination. She earned numerous awards and honors including Presidential Medal of Arts and the NAACP Lifetime Achievement Award. #BlackHistoryMonth See more
