Perhaps of interest to Friends: 225 years ago a play called The Triumphs of Love; or, Happy Reconciliation written by John Murdock premiered in Philadelphia. The play was based on Quaker debates about slavery at the time and is the first play in U.S. history to depict the emancipation of an enslaved person.
