E: Your work has always been "earthy" since I can remember. Beyond what you did to meet class projects, when you had opportunity to build on the foundation work, you would often make things that had materials and objects imbued with meaning intrinsic to that object that idea that material if this makes sense. V: That's correct. I think the formal aspects of art play a part in my work, but they are really just one way of seeing. For instance, you can think of math as something that is actually unfolding around us, the same could be said about the formal aspects and design principles. While I think the initial design of a piece has inherent decorative elements, i.e. playing off of ideas of beauty, everything I use is full of information and reason, loaded, for lack of a better term.
