Let’s try NJK Tsunago! This amazing pencil splicing device uses a unique three-step process to join short pencils together. First, we hollow out the core of one pencil. Then, we taper the point of the other pencilnow it’s a peg perfectly sized for the hole we drilled. Finally, a quick twist of the peg in Tsunago’s smoothing hole makes it perfect. Now we can pair the two pencils (a dab of wood glue is optional) and keep writing! Of course, this video has been sped up, but the real time was only 4 minutes. These unusual refills are the best part of a longtime staff favorite: Pentel’s Tradio plastic nib fountain pen. The feed mechanism is just like a fountain pen’s, with a series of capillaries that quickly moves a generous flow of ink to the nib.
