Ust care about our current and future tenants, especially those with kids. We just wanted to let everyone know about a situation going on: Lee’s Summit Police Department has been contacted regarding suspicious activity that has occurred in the areas of Jackson County, east Independence and Grain Valley. Incidents have occurred where a female goes door-to-door in a neighborhood, usually after10pm, and offers to tutor children or sell children’s books to the family. The fema...le has a clipboard with her and what looks to be a map of the neighborhood. Further, the female forces herself into the threshold of the residence and begins looking around the residence, as if she is casing the interior of the home. This information has appeared recently on social media sites with the belief that the female is casing the residence to kidnap the children there. This behavior is more indicative of casing to commit a home break-in when residents are away at work/school. However, the reason for this female’s behavior is not known at this time. No reports of this type of activity have been made in Lee’s Summit, but I wanted to send you this information as a precaution. Please pass this email on to your neighbors and report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911. The LSPD Crime Analyst received a decent description of a man and woman who’ve been trying to sell children’s books across the KC metro. They could be connected to the suspicious activity reports in eastern Jackson County. The suspects are described as a white female with brown hair, approximately 20 years of age, driving a yellow Chevy Cobalt with New Mexico plates and an Hispanic male, approximately 23 years of age, driving a 2002 Nissan Sentra (unknown color).
