Coach Dalyn Trippe has been getting his ducks in a row getting this weightlifting club launched on January 4! He knocked out his USAW Level 1 Certification a few weeks ago in Chicago, and we are now registered as a USAW affiliated facility. There’s still so much more to come. He is extremely passionate about bringing the best product possible and continuing to grow the sport in our area. The sport has really taken off over the last few years locally, and he wants to help ke...ep that momentum rolling. The benefits of weightlifting are unparalleled compared to other forms of barbell training when it comes to being the perfect blend of strong, explosive, mobile, and coordinated. But it requires an immense amount of practice and exposure to become proficient. This club will be the perfect opportunity to get your feet wet and discover a new passion.

Wow! This was a cool video to watch. If you don’t follow Ryan on IG (@ryan.seau)then fix that and go check out this 2 minute clip of his 1 year progress. I still remember the first day he approached me and said that he wants to learn weightlifting, and asked if I could help. It was certainly a combined effort between the SSC coaches and fellow lifters. Holy cow this guy has been one of the most consistent athletes at the gym. Just watch this video and see that he is literall...y training in his apartment parking lot at all hours and conditions when the virus shut everything down this year. Incredible. Freakin Rocky Balboa. And believe me, if all he had to work with was a log, he would have chopped down a nearby tree and snatched that thing. Proud of you, Ryan! What you’ve accomplished with that barbell in a single year was what most people don’t accomplish in 5 years. #ssc417

Not every transformation is a fat loss effort. 152lb to 167lb I’ve known Zach for many years now, and he has always displayed in impressively lean, vascular physique. But he reached out to me about helping him pack on some muscle. So we’ve slowly been having him eat more, and have been alternating between hypertrophy and strength training cycles every 3 weeks. ... Needless to say, he has responded well. He’s part of the population that has to work hard to put on weight. Call these types of people lucky all that you want, but I assure you that for many of them, their weight gain frustrations and discomfort from the calorie intake is very similar to the struggles of those trying to lose weight. Ty has been a basketball player up until a few weeks ago. He transferred schools and decided to pick up football. Before, much of his power work was more on the speed-strength and absolute speed side of the strength-speed continuum. There isn’t a ton of need for loads of max strength and strength-speed in basketball. However, with football now added to the mix, it is important that we begin working a little more towards that strength side of the continuum. ... Insert heavy trap bar pulls. We find that the trap bar is a safe and easy to use alternative when it comes to Olympic variants. After all, in most cases, using oly lifts with athletes is to train a powerful triple extension. Compare trap bar pull with the clean pull. You will notice little difference, and I’d argue the trap bar is still more advantageous with most athletes because of the starting position and weight distribution.
