Before electric audiometry was used to measure hearing, there were many different methods used to evaluate the thresholds at different frequencies (pitches). The tuning fork (still used at times today in doctor’s office) was important for low frequencies, whisper, and speech or mid-frequencies, along with Galton’s whistle and Konig’s rod evaluated the high frequencies.
