The set-up as explained is an open relay which permits "storing" water near the source pumper for more rapid fill times when the tanker/tender arrives to be loaded. ***Airbag and Cribbing Drill*** Here is an awesome, low cost, and low supply drill to perform with your company. Take a 6 foot table and in the center mark a sq...uare with tape. In the square put a full pitcher of water. The objective is to lift the table from the ground and put the table onto it’s legs without moving the or spilling the pitcher of water. The drill requires communication and teamwork amongst the participants. The objective can be accomplished several different ways. It allows the firefighters to get their hands on the airbags or lifting tools your department carries. The training also reinforces building box cribs and allows practice with stabilizing an object. Overall the drill was well received and if anything got the guys thinking and working together. Give it a try and let us know your thoughts.

Firefighters often go from sleeping to on scene of an emergency in just a few minutes. Pictured here is a watch reading of a Local 37 firefighter's heart rate t...hrough an early morning fire. The white portion is the sleeping heart rate of 40-50 bpm, the red portion is the initial alarm wake up where the firefighters heart rate jumped to 141 bpm, the last multicolored portion is the elevated heart rate throughout the fire where the heart rate consistently stayed over 100 bpm.
