Green and White Schedule for the rest of first semester
It is hard to believe that Winter Break is upon us. We all have had so much to deal with over the past 10 months and have endured so many changes and disruption...s to our daily lives. COVID has forced us to rethink how we travel, how we shop, how we interact, what we wear, how we have fun, who we spend time with, and how we educate. Yet, through our combined resilience, hard work, innovative thinking and hope, we have found a way to continue on and remain Warrior strong. During this holiday season, despite COVID, I have found that SMS has so many things to be thankful for. We are thankful for our amazing students who have embraced our COVID safety protocols and adapted to all of the new and different ways to learn. We appreciate our dedicated staff who have had to completely rethink how to teach during this pandemic, and who have worked hard to provide continued meaningful learning. We are grateful for all the support our parents have given us. Not only for helping us with the at home learning, but also for your understanding and empathy on the COVID related challenges we face as educators. Lastly, it is gratifying to know that relief is on the way and a vaccination is near. As we prepare for the second half of the school year, I wanted to provide the following information: The last day of school before Winter Break is Tuesday, December 22nd. Winter Break is from Wednesday, December 23rd through Sunday, January 3rd. First semester continues after Winter Break. When we return from break on January 4th through January 15th, we will still be in First Semester. Second Semester does not start until January 19th. Therefore, if you have submitted a request to change your learning mode for the second semester, it will not start until January 19th. For example, if you are switching from being a 100% virtual student to become an in person learner, you will not start in person until January 19th. This is the same if you are an in person learner now and are switching to become a 100% virtual learner, you will not start until January 19th. Here is a link to our First Semester Green and White Day calendar. Please note that on the week of January 11th through 15th, the Green/White day schedule will be as follows: --Monday, Jan. 11th -- Green Day --Tuesday, Jan. 12th -- White Day --Wednesday, Jan. 13th -- Green Day --Thursday, Jan. 14th -- White Day --Friday, Jan. 15th -- Virtual Half Day. We will provide a Second Semester Green and White Day calendar after Winter Break. If any SMS student is exposed to COVID or tests positive for COVID over Winter Break, please email Mr. Winterboer at [email protected] to notify the school. We will then contact the parents to discuss next steps. We want to be sure to keep everyone safe upon returning to school from winter break. Thank you. As always, please feel free to contact the school with any questions. We wish everyone the best. Take care and we hope everyone has a wonderful winter break. Happy Holidays!
