Missouri Department of Conservation, Smithville Lake and the Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting the Youth Deer Hunt on December 12th & 13th, 2020. Please be aware of the following trail closures: Kelsey Short, all hiking trails except at Little Platte, the equestrian camping loop in Crow's Creek, equestrian trails from Access 27 to Jack Rabbit Bend and Smith's Fork Park.... The Managed Goose Hunt will be held, Monday - Friday during November 11, 2020 through February 6, 2021. Patrons may encounter some partial trail closures on the Bonebender Trail and the Campground Trail at Camp Branch Campground (which is closed for the winter season), the trails at Little Platte Park, Woodhenge and Little Platte Beach. Kelsey Short Youth Camp will also be closed.
Sweet new reroute on TNT, not far from the trailhead. Thanks to all the #trailgnomes for their hard work!
It started as a dream, move pulpit up hill so it won’t flood and the trail is more sustainable. Phase one complete! Project: Crossing the Chasm is a success. On to phase two: define the rocky line. Let’s just say this part will be a bear and the #trailgnomes have a lot of interpretation yet to do. Note: pulpit will be a bit flatter, but it’s gonna remain a blackish trail... paying homage to its roots, errrr rocks!! Opening Spring 2021.
The Smithville trail system is now mapped on Trailforks. Check it out: https://www.trailforks.com/region/smithville-lake-trails/. This is a crowd-sourced platform so we encourage you to add photos and reviews to make it the best it can be.
Sadly a theif stole the blue car hood on TNT. It’s unfortunate people don’t respect themselves and others enough to keep their thieving hands to themselves.Sadly a theif stole the blue car hood on TNT. Nice fall ride with a good group followed by weenie roast over multiple fire sources. Thanks Ben Bolin Lynda Calvert-weyant and Tim King for organizing another post-ride parking lot hangout.
Get a shirt, help fund our trails. Win Win!
Trails are dry enough to ride. See you there!
It’s raining, so no ride tonight. Stay safe and see you next week! #trailgnomes
