Not a meme .. just something we need to remember .. :)
Fact: All dog behavior is driven by (1) the desire to get something they want, or (2) avoid something they don't want. An E-collar works by producing a shock t...he dog works to avoid. In order for a shock collar to change behavior without being something a dog wants or avoids, it would have to be magic. Riddikulus! The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior does not support the use of punishment (including E-collars) for basic training or early intervention. Find the AVSAB position statement on punishment here: https://avsab.org//Punishment-Position-Statement_bleeds-10
Another reminder of things we so often forget
Violence isn't the answer ..unless the victim doesn't speak up of course. And when he does, we make him shut up with even more violence. And this is what kids ...are taught. Not cool. We're all horse lovers until we become equestrians: Kids are desensitized to using force and punishment on animals, and slowly learn to mute that little voice that tells them it isn't okay. After that has happened and the kid has grown up, it is pretty much too late because by now.. that person gets reinforced every time a horse responds to aversive pressure. If others try to make this person listen to that little voice again, she starts kicking and screaming due to that oh so powerful cognitive dissonance. And because deep down, she knows she's wrong. https://hippologic.wordpress.com//it-starts-with-a-helmet/ GERMAN (Thanks to Sylvia Czarnecki) Gewalt ist keine Lösung Solange das Opfer nicht spricht.
OH YES! Don't we all need more moments when we step out of our "training for behavior" boxes and really BE with our dogs and simply just RELATE with them?

Any disagreements with this?
As you walk down life’s path with your dog, please, please remember that dogs have their own unique needs & desires too...
If only everyone knew this intuitively...
THIS IS A MUST READ. HOW WELL STATED HER POSITION IS. HAVE SOME TISSUES HANDY.
