Everything you actually need to know about these trendy derma rollers This holiday season, stay AWAY from these trendy at home skin gadgets. They may look harmless enough, and may even seem to have immediate results! However, I can promise you, a professional microneedling treatment would do so much more for you! The 2 main reasons I encourage everyone to stay away from derma rollers:... The physical rolling of the device actually drags the small needles across the face, creating tiny tears in the skin. A professional microneedling device is designed to carefully puncture the skin with sterile needles, creating a controlled trauma that encourages the skin to regenerate and produce collagen. The difference: Tears=Bad, Holes=Good! These rollers are completely unsanitary!! Even if you got great results after using a device like this once, I would NEVER recommend using it again. Anything that punctures the skin should be disposed of in a sharps container immediately after use, as a rule. Also, most people don't have a salon-grade disinfectant solution at home to soak these tools in properly between uses.
