We have gotten many questions about the AARP Tax Aide program which provides free assistance with tax preparation. The library does plan to continue our partnership with the program this year, but it is unlikely to start before the first part of March. Since the volunteers are in a high risk group, they are hoping lessen their risk of exposure to Covid-19 by waiting until cases have decreased and more people have received vaccines. We do not have all the details yet; we expect to know later this week and will share more at that time.

If you’re like me, you don’t know much about the history of this league, which was active from 1920-1948 and began to dissolve after Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier by playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. We have a display of books from our collection about Jackie Robinson and Negro Leagues baseball. Also pictured, one of many photos of my trip to the Negro Leagues Hall of Fame in Kansas City in 2019.
