My son and I entered a "float" in the Salem parade years ago, on our trailer behind our sign truck - we started with two sheets of blank plywood on opposite sides of an A-frame. I'd penciled a flag design and the letters "Welcome to Salem", half on one side, half on the other. When the parade began and the trailer started moving, we started painting, John on one side, I on the other - we couldn't see each other .... we finished the last few strokes just as we turned the last corner to the downtown square, and when the truck stopped, we lifted the sign pieces down and put them together so you could see what it said - then we donated it to the city. It was the welcome sign on the main highway into town for 15 years or more. A really fun project, and a great one to share with my son. (who still, many years later, works with me every day).

One thing about it - our parking lot is always interesting! And you hafta be a magician to get everything tied down good enough to ride. Lol
