On Wednesday & Thursday, Sister Matthew Maria had Sister Margaret assist her in teaching Prek3 and Kdg about yeast. During their Atrium class, the children learned about the parable about the yeast. They learned that yeast, as small as it is has the ability to make the dough grow and increase. They learned in Atrium, that prayer, kindness and doing good will help our faith to grow. Then the children learned about the ingredients of bread and how these affect the yeast to rise and grow. They children were amazed to see how fast the dough grew and how rare dough felt. They were very excited to receive the buns for snack!

It's beginning to look a lot like Thanksgiving at the Villa. Our Nursery 3 class painted the "paper plate" body of their turkey craft by using feathers as their paintbrush! We will keep you posted as this creation unfolds.

Fall leaves can be so much fun! We had inches of leaves all over the playground. We scooped them into crates and pretended they were so many different things for the past week. But that all changed. Today the landscape crew came. They blew the leaves from the playground, the lawns front and back into the alley and street. It was so cool to watch the leaves be pushed across the lawns! The leaves swirled and moved so fast! Next they sucked all the leaves up into the back of trucks and took them away. . .THEY TOOK ALL OUR LEAVES AWAY! What will we play with now?

Today our Kindergarten class began their study of the eight owls found in Missouri. They were fascinated to learn from Ms. Patti how owls turn their heads all the way around! They were also amazed to hear that different owls make different sounds and calls. As part of their learning experience, the class made owl puppets with paper bags, construction paper, markers as well as silk and real leaves. They are pretty excited to learn more about these unusual birds.

Fall Fine Motor Fun! Tiny Tots practiced their fine motor skills with some fun activities this week. Cutting and hole punching colorful fall leaves was much more fun than using plain paper. They made turkeys with colorful clothespins for feathers. Ms. Ashley, our Tiny Tots' teacher has some very creative ideas!

Our Nursery 1 class was curious to know how butter was made. So the teacher, Ms. Mary Grace, started with heavy cream in small, sealed containers. Then they watched a short video on how butter is made. Next they shook, shook , shook them up until butter was formed! Last but not least, they tasted their homemade butter with some yummy crackers. Mmmmmm, it was so good and so much fun!
