Parents - We just had a confirmed diagnosis of strep in one of our kids. We will continue to monitor everyone. The child presented with a fever yesterday and was sent home. Today the child's mother reported the child broke out in a rash and was taken to the doctor, where they received the strep diagnosis. I want to say that the state mandates we send any child home with a temp of 100.1 and over. Our covid policy is that a child is to be sent home at 100. We check children mu...ltiple times per day as part of that same covid policy, which has been posted at the center for some time now. When we get a child who has a temp, we check them multiple times just to make sure it is consistent. We have a forehead thermometer and an underarm one, and we utilize both. Our thermometers do not distinguish between "teething fevers" or illness fevers. I know it can be frustrating having to leave work or to find someone who can take your child. As a parent, I completely understand and am sorry when it happens. That being said, let me be clear on my bottom line - we are in the middle of a global pandemic and I will NOT fool around with illness. As inconvenient as it is to pick up a sick child, I will not put the other kids in my care, my staff, or their families at risk. Period. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please feel free to call, message, or come see me in my office. I have an open door policy and will make myself available if you want to get together and talk. What I will not allow is the verbal abuse of my staff about this policy. They are doing their best. We have not closed at all due to the pandemic and my workers have tried hard to keep the kids and themselves as well as they can. Hot soup and sandwiches on this cold, snowy day!

Parents - We have illness going around. Staff and kids have been impacted. So far the symptoms are a fever and feeling sluggish/tired. Our staff members who have been ill have been covid tested to rule it out and have tested negative. Please keep an eye on your kiddos temperature and do not send them to school if they are ill to protect our other students, staff, and families. We will be keeping track of temps here at the center and doing deeper cleaning and disinfecting. ... Stay well!
