Shelbina United Methodist Church 13.12.2020

Neighbors, At the direction of our Bishop, we have suspended in person worship until the positivity rate for COVID-19 infections comes down. We do this not because COVID-19 has infected a massive amount of people in this county, but because a positivity rate that is high indicates that we are on the edge. It could get very bad, if we don’t take this seriously. I am not any happier about this than anyone else, but it is what love for our neighbor demands. ... Thus, we will have worship posted online check here each week for the links to a youtube video. We will have a Drive-In worship service on December 21st at 6pm. We will use a radio transmitter to make sure everyone can stay safe in their cars, and hear clearly. We will have an in-person worship service on December 24th at 6pm. We will sing Silent Night, read the Gospel of Jesus’s birth, and light candles. Will we be inside, surrounded by the soft glow of oil lamps, or outside, circled around a fire? I don’t know. Like so much, it depends on the positivity rate. I miss you. Stay safe. Peace, Andrew Coon

40.8% positivity rate. We need to see something lower, like 15%, before we can resume worship. Online worship only for this Sunday, the first Sunday in December.

Advent begins Sunday. The music. The story. The candles, lit in the dark. Christmas is coming.
