A big shout out to my niece Jennifer Young, owner of YoshiJen. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. She gifted us with this sign in support of our business.

417 Good Eat'N stopped by Shanghai Inn to eat some of the best cashew and general chicken springfield has to offer. We have been coming here for 15 years and it...s only gotten better with age. The owner is always there to greet you with a smile and always remembers your favorite order if you've been a regular customer in the past no matter how much time has passed since your last visit. My dad lived in st.louis and if we would tell him we were planning a visit he would make sure to put his Shanghai order in for us to bring to him which was the "cashew chicken with the cashew and sauce on the side with a cup of green onions" and if we would forget to bring it he almost seemed heart broken. So if you've never been to Shanghai Inn for Chinese food you're missing out on one of North glenstones hidden gems.

David Leong usually gets all the credit for inventing Springfield-style Cashew Chicken--and he deserves it--but there were others who played vital roles in brin...ging the dish to the masses, for spreading it throughout the city. In today's episode we have an incredible conversation with Andy Sun (Lady Merlin), whose parents founded Shanghai Inn, Peking House, and the late, great Dragon Inn II, among others. Andy tells us parts of her parents' amazing stories, what it was like to essentially grow up inside Chinese restaurants, the surprising reasons why the Suns chose to run several at once, and the even more surprising reason why they wound up selling them all in the early 90s. And of course, afterward, the Foodmales discuss recent meals from the two still-standing Sun family legacy restaurants--Peking House and the truly special Shanghai Inn. We are very proud of this episode. It's better than our normal silliness, though that element is still present. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
