Sew Busy Originals 05.02.2021

We, like many other people, (especially those in our age group) are somewhat patiently waiting for our second shot. I say somewhat patiently because that’s the name of the game with Covid. If you are like me and struggle with being patient about anything, dealing with the Covid world has been a serious challenge these last almost 12 months now. And, even if you are a more patient person than me, I know it’s still been a struggle. We’ve had to be patient with just about ...Continue reading

If you’ve ever lived in, or maybe even visited, central Missouri on a cold wintery February day, there’s a good chance you’ll know what I mean when I use the phrase thick rain. You may wonder how can rain be thick? Well, let me tell you folks, rain in February can very often be thick and that’s what we had today. At times it was a fine spray of mist...you almost had to feel it on your skin before you could even see it. But, then as the day went on, the mist turned ...into sprinkles and the sprinkles turned into a shower and the shower turned into weighted-down, heavy thick raindrops that splatted onto your head, your face, your back and your arms. And soon afterward, the rain was mixed with big white fluffy snowflakes, throwing themselves furiously into the biting wind. We spent a good part of the day running errands and grocery shopping...waddling our way through the puddles that quickly formed in our path back and forth from the car into the stores. Lovely. After awhile the miserably cold rain stopped, just about the time we pulled into our warm, dry garage. Wouldn’t you know?! Anyway, the bright spot of my day was coming home to post tonight’s purse pic, which features a warm fabric combo with a color scheme of soft shades of coral. Maybe not the perfect purse for a cold Missouri thick rain day, but definitely one pointing toward a welcome change in the season to the bright and sunny days of spring, which can’t get here soon enough! Tonight’s purse is named Coral Charm. This is the last purse in the purses that went to Austria group. Be sure to check back Tuesday evening for a cute Kansas City Chiefs purse that I’m planning to post...hopefully in celebration of another Super Bowl win this weekend! Go Chiefs! (SOLD) Five...four...three...two...one! The countdown is on to join in on the fun and donate to the Allen Waterman Animal Assistance Fund at the Osage Regional Veterinary Clinic! You have until next Tuesday, February 9, to participate and possibly become the lucky owner of tonight’s other purse named Pooch Parade! Be sure to check out Tuesday night’s post and/or the January 14 post on the Sew Busy Originals page for all the fundraiser details. It’s a great opportunity to support a well-deserving animal assistance fund, which provides an unbelievable amount of caring and support for needy animals in the central Missouri area. Don’t miss this chance to do a good deed and maybe walk away with a new Sew Busy Originals purse...all for an affordable $5.00 donation. Can’t beat an offer like that! Brother, can you spare a dime? is a well-known phrase from the Great Depression. This familiar phrase is actually the name of a song from that time period in which a man, who had been rich and is now poor, asks for people to give him money. At the risk of sounding like this man, that’s exactly what I’m doing! And, I’m not just asking for one dime...I’m actually asking for fifty of them for a total of $5.00! If you’ve been watching the Sew Busy Originals page, you’ll qu...ickly know why I’m asking for $5.00. Being the dog nut that I am, I decided that Sew Busy Originals should sponsor a benefit fundraiser for the Allen Waterman Animal Assistance Fund (AWAAF) at the Osage Regional Veterinary Clinic (ORVC) in Linn, MO. This is a fund supported solely by donations that was established a few years ago by the Waterman family in memory of Allen, a devoted dog lover and former client of ORVC. The money donated to this fund is used by the ORVC staff to help dogs and cats in central Missouri who would otherwise not have a chance at survival. It’s a very worthy cause that I’m proud to support with this benefit. So, if you can spare $5.00, here’s how you can donate: mail your donation to Carol Branson, 71 Stefka Ln, Linn MO 65051; Venmo (@Carol-Branson-2); PayPal ([email protected]) And here’s the fun part...for every $5.00 you donate, your name will be submitted to possibly become the new owner of the cute Sew Busy purse you see in tonight’s first purse pic, which is named Pooch Parade! ($5=one name submission; $10=two name submissions, etc.) This is a great opportunity to support a much needed fund where I promise your money will be put to good use, as well as maybe become the recipient of a cute little purse! There’s only one catch...the fundraiser ends on February 9, so you only have ONE MORE WEEK to join in on the fun. I will announce the grand total of donations as well as the new owner of Pooch Parade! on Thursday evening, February 11 when I post the purse pics for that night. Thank you to everyone who has already donated and if you haven’t done so yet, please consider sending a minimum $5.00 in before February 9. One more request, please Like and Share this post so everyone can play along...the more, the merrier! That makes it a win win all the way around! Now on to tonight’s other purse, which is named Multicolor Mix Up because of the wide assortment of colors in this attractive fabric combo. This would be a great purse for anyone who has a lot of denim in their wardrobe and who wants a purse that would work well as a year-round accessory. Actually, that just might include most of us! (SOLD) Please call/text 573-690-9066 for benefit questions or to order a Sew Busy Originals purse.

One thing leads to another... Boy, isn’t that the truth! A simple purchase from a swap shop website of some used $15 tables has lead to a major overhaul of my sewing room...with an emphasis on haul as you see in tonight’s Friday Night Grandkid Pics. I wanted these tables because they will allow me to have three sewing machines going (threaded and bobbined with the appropriate thread colors) at the same time. Well, maybe not going, but at least ready to go. Now,... that plan may not make much sense to some of you, (don’t feel bad...it didn’t make any sense to my husband either!) but it makes perfect sense to me. That used table purchase is what started the overhaul because it also made perfect sense to me to also replace the flooring in my sewing room while we were moving stuff out to make room for my new tables. And then there was also a need for some new fabric shelves, which also became part of the domino effect plan. Thus, the sewing room mess you see in these pics. Everything is, as Will would say, up down in my sewing room while I’m waiting on the new floor, new fabric shelves and used tables (that started the whole thing) to be moved in. As I said, one thing leads to another.....all because of a few $15 tables! Oh well, as long as we have lots of help like we had from little Mr. Mason when he was here the other day, it won’t be such a hard job for this old grandma...and a very patient and cooperative grandpa! Have a great weekend! See more
