I know that since our office has not been open for routine care, many of you may have experienced some dental issues that you have concerns with. The most common emergencies that we have with our patients 1. A chipped tooth or filling. When this happens, you may have some sensitivity especially to cold, it will probably not get any worse for ... several weeks. It should be looked at as soon as you are able to make an appointment so we can evaluate the tooth. If you do have sensitivity that lasts longer than a few seconds when exposed to cold, or spontaneous pain, we should look at it as soon as possible on an emergency basis. 2. A tooth that suddenly becomes sensitive. A tooth that is sensitive mostly to cold, that only lasts for a few seconds is probably OK, but if it is getting worse, should be evaluated as soon as possible. If the sensitivity seems to be along the gum line, Sensodyne Tooth Paste may help A tooth that is sensitive to hot or hurts on its own should be evaluated as soon as possible. 3. Gums that bleed when brushing or flossing This is normally a sign of inflammation. If you have not been flossing every day, increase your frequency to 1-2 times a day. I recommend an electric tooth brush Oral B is a good brand with a round head. We also recommend the Rotodent Procare which has a very soft head
