Don’t forget to vote tomorrow. A lot has changed in our community in the past 29 years, but one thing that hasn't changed is the assessment rate that funds ou...r professional firefighters’ retirement fund. It's still at the same level as when it was first approved by the community in 1991. Back then, the retirement program served 22 employees; now, it serves 85. One third of them are over the age of 51, many with a decade or more of service remaining before they can retire. Due to responsible planning, the District has been able to fully fund retirement commitments through state-mandated rate reductions, tremendous population growth, and economic highs and lows. Unfortunately, this is no longer possible. Prop. R is the last item on your ballot tomorrow and is the solution to this challenge. If approved by the community, it would provide funding for the CCFR professional firefighter's retirement program, allowing this generation of firefighters to retire with dignity and pass the torch to the next generation. The plan would cost the owner of a $200,000 home $3.17 per month, or about the cost of a gallon of milk. Professional Firefighters of Central County Fire and Rescue Working Together, Keeping You Safe
