Dear Friends and Supporters of SEMO-NASV, As we all know, 2020 has been a difficult year for EVERYONE but some families have been hit harder than others. Besid...es COVID-19 and all of the emotional, physical and financial stress it has caused, the clients and families we work with have additionally dealt with the trauma of sexual violence. We’re working to bring some Christmas cheer to a few of these families, but we need your help. There are so many that need it this year but we have started with seven families that because of various circumstances most urgently need our support. You can help us help them have a Merry Christmas by making a donation. $10 will purchase one gift for a child. $50 will purchase groceries for a Christmas dinner. $100 will buy gifts and groceries for an entire family. Any amount will help make Christmas a little brighter for these folks and all you have to do is click a button- our SEMO-NASV elves will do the rest! Merry Christmas and thank you, as always, for your support! Sincerely, Kendra Eads Executive Director

We regret to announce that due to COVID-19 our 2020 All Hallows Gala fundraiser for The Green Bear Project has been cancelled. The health and safety of everyone... involved in our mission is critical and we want all our donors, volunteers, and staff to remain healthy. Thanks to everyone who attended our 2019 All Hallows Gala over 16,000 southeast Missouri children were provided child abuse prevention education this year through Green Bear. That’s 16,000 students who learned how to recognize abuse, when and how to report, ways to stay safe online, and much more. Thank you to everyone who attended and donated! With our world changing so dramatically in the past 6 months we know that the abuse prevention messages we share with school aged children are more vital than ever. When families become increasingly isolated, stressed and economically unstable, the incidence of abuse often rises. Without access to education on personal safety and reporting, kids in southeast Missouri are at an increased risk of harm. So, how do we fund and deliver this year’s program? Green Bear’s format will become virtual to ensure access to all children in our area without losing any of the important messaging. We will be working with a local creative company to record the presentations, making them interactive to keep kids engaged. This process will be expensive - but necessary - to reach the thousands of students in our area. This is why your financial support is critical! Our goal is to raise $20,000 to fund the Green Bear Program this year. Can we count on you? A contribution of $20 will allow us to teach 10 southeast Missouri children that if abuse occurs it is not their fault. $50 will help us educate 25 junior high students about staying safe in pre-dating situations. $100 will ensure that 50 early elementary aged children learn abduction prevention techniques. On behalf of the students in southeast Missouri we want to thank you for your past support and for assisting us with this year’s campaign. We can’t do it without your help! We at SEMO-NASV appreciate the leadership of Cape Girardeau Police Chief, Wes Blair, in sharing this statement and join the department in their belief in the fair and impartial treatment of everyone. Additionally, we recognize that this is not always put into practice in our country and that there is much room for growth. As an agency we commit to doing our part to promote anti-racism and equal rights for all.
