Fall Reunion Overview: In spite of restrictions, inconveniences, non-traditional means and methods, and a whole lot of pre-planning and last minute modification...s, Anpetu-We Lodge saw 177 Scouts and Scouters (grouped fewer than 50 by their home locales) come together for a glorious weekend in the outdoors. This dedicated group contributed nearly 1,100 man-hours of service to Camp Lewallen, inducted 50 new Ordeal members, converted 16 new Brotherhood members, and honored 7 new Vigils. Best of all, we fellowshipped with others in a safe, inspiring, and motivating setting. It was a brotherhood of cheerful service. Our Scouts NEEDED this. Our adult leaders NEEDED this. The Scouting program NEEDED this. Our Lodge's sincerest thanks go to all of our members who worked so hard to make it happen, to our families who trusted us with their Scouts, and to our Council leadership who had faith in our event plan. If we didn't see you this past weekend, I hope we'll see you soon. Here's to a bright Scouting future at the happiest place on Earth. My golfing friends, our Council has organized a regional virtual Golf Tournament to benefit our local Scouting districts. Get your foursome together and play a scramble round at the course of your choice for a great cause. Record your score on the 18Birdies app. You can play your round between now and September 29th. A virtual awards ceremony will be held on September 30. Registration information is below, and more details will be sent to registrants. Have some fun, and help Scouting! Sponsorships are also available.
Why Scouting? This week, instead of swimming, playing video games inside, or destroying something, these Scouts were helping Zack H. (Troop 2, Cape Girardeau MO) with an Eagle Scout project to build a stone entrance sign for Cape Girardeau County Park to replace the rotten wood sign that has come to the end of it's useful life. Zack planned, coordinated, and recruited the youth and adult volunteers to assist skilled park staff. What were other young people doing this week? (Photo credits to Mindy Sinning.)

It's one thing to have fond memories of Scouting, and long for the good old days. It's another to appreciate what you received, want future generations to have it, and support the organization that can make it happen. Many of you spend hours of time and give lots of money to Scouting; however, many of you haven't been involved since you were youth. Now's the time to give back, especially since so many unit Friends of Scouting presentations have been canceled. If you have the means, please consider a gift to Scouting. Consider making it a recurring gift. Thank you. https://stlbsa.org/donate/
The year 2019 had the largest Eagle Scout class in HISTORY, with 61,353 Scouts earning the rank of Eagle! Most notable in this article, to me, is the following: "Eagle Scouts, and the volunteers they led, completed 8,575,780 hours of work for Eagle Scout service projects in 2019." and "At the 2019 'value of volunteer time' rate of $25.43 per hour, that equals a staggering $218.1 million worth of service to communities." https://blog.scoutingmagazine.org//eagle-scout-class-of-2/
