B shift got a special surprise today. A local 9 year old decided for his birthday he would rather treat us to lunch than receive a present. We see a future firefighter in the making. Thanks for being a fantastic community Sedalia, continue to support each other.
Shout out and thanks to Bandana’s BAR-B-Q for the lunch they brought to the crews today! Please support your local businesses during these trying times
Missouri is lacking a presumptive cancer law that many states have protecting firefighters.
Started 2021 off with a busy day. Numerous fires, including some national news. Be safe , as the temps are dropping below freezing again.
Multiple items of note in last nights city council meeting. First: Congratulations to former local 103 President, Captain Greg Goose Smith on 25 years of service. Second: We appreciate the city allocating funds to keep our aging East station usable. We also acknowledge that this should be a short term solution , as the city grows substantially, a third station is inevitable . ... Have a great election night Sedalia .
For anyone looking , a job opening at a great department right up the road .
DON't THROW WATER ON GREASE FIRE: "Sarnia Fire Rescue Services wanted to demonstrate why you should NEVER throw water on a grease fire! Always look while you c...ook but if your cooking oil ever catches on fire safely put on a tight-fitting lid or cookie sheet, turn off the heat and let it completely cool." - Sarnia Fire Rescue https://bit.ly/2RS4cUt See more

We haven’t forgotten!
Tonight Matt Kowalski received his badge at the city council meeting. Matt receiving his badge signifies he is no longer a recruit firefighter. His badge was pinned on him by his grandfather Joe Kowalski. His grandfather was a member of Local 103 and gave 30 plus years of service to the Sedalia Fire Department. Congratulations Matthew Kowalski!
Sedalia Professional Firefighters local 103, have endorsed a vote for Tom Oldham as Pettis County Assessor. Mr. Oldham has been a steadfast supporter of safety... in our city in his entire tenure as a Sedalia City Councilman. While it is bittersweet to see him move out of his current seat, we know he has a bright future and will make positive improvements for the entire county. See more
PSA: It is never acceptable to run over a fire hose . Often times it is necessary to lay a supply line from a hydrant across a road. While SPD does a great job of shutting down the street, often times they can’t block every angle . During a fire tonight , numerous vehicles drove over a charged supply line with fire crews inside the burning structure. This is a life threatening situation when this occurs, as hose lines are literally a life line for those inside .
SFD is currently accepting applications for the next Fire I&II class starting in September. For more information or to request an application packet please contact Daniel Shaw at [email protected].
