#MeetTheTeam - Logistics Manager Joe Brooks has overseen the Service Center at SCCAD for more than three years, providing oversight for vehicle maintenance, equipment repair, and supplying paramedic crews with the lifesaving tools they need. Going to work knowing he's taking care of his community makes it easy to report for duty each day - a feeling he shared when serving in the #AirForce. Joe feels that the people make the difference at SCCAD, making him feel welcome and a part of the #sccadems family.
This week, SCCAD said a very fond farewell to our longest-tenured team member - Captain Training Officer Rick Lane. Rick began his 40+ year career with the District in 1979, and has worked closely not only with our own team, but our partner fire protection districts as well. He's developed a number of mission-critical training initiatives, and is a well-respected leader within our organization. We wish him the absolute best in retirement!
The members of our Medic 20 #AugustaMO Volunteer First Response Team are an invaluable asset to our community, and today, one of its members is celebrating his fourth #SCCADiversary. Please join us in giving a big round of thanks to Scott Repke, who started with the team on this day in 2017. We appreciate your commitment and dedication, Scott!
Yesterday's fire in Danville, MO proved once again that #MutualAid is an important part of our industry. #sccadems Deputy Chief of Special Operations Jeremey Hollrah, along with others from the St. Louis Metro Task Force 1, provided assistance to local crews to contain the #hazmat situation.
Milestone #SCCADiversary alert! Today, four members of our team celebrate a quarter-century of service with #sccadems - Paramedics Mark Alexander, Bob Boyd, and Jeff Summers, along with Assistant Chief Kelly Cope began their tenure with the District on this day in 1996. Also celebrating today are Paramedics Heather Briggs and Fred Biermann, Lieutenant Jeremy Hunsel, Battalion Chief Rees Remington, Operations Captain Matt Schafer and Platoon Chief Brandon Jones - each of th...ese gentleman joined us in 2005, and are celebrating 16 years of service. To list the individual accomplishments of these group of nine would fill a book - from their work on the USAR and TEMS teams, to involvement with SCCAD Outreach, to long-term planning for the District, these team members have helped make SCCAD what it is today, and we appreciate them very much! Today, one of our longest-tenured team members celebrates 33 years of service with SCCAD! Paramedic Dave Enloe began his career with the District on this day in 1987, and has been a part of our tremendous growth in the community. He's helped thousands of individuals in all corners of the county, and we appreciate his dedication and commitment to our mission! Happy #SCCADiversary, Dave!
Today, two great members of our crew celebrate six years of service with SCCAD! Critical Care Paramedic Andy Law and Lieutenant Luke Remington have each worked tirelessly throughout their tenure to help us deliver exceptional mobile healthcare to St. Charles County, and we appreciate their commitment and dedication. Happy #SCCADiversary, gentlemen!

#MeetTheTeam: Patrick Slape has been a paramedic at SCCAD for 15 years. In college, he had an interest in biology and was on track to graduate in that field. During his study, a group of friends with experience in EMS convinced him to use his biology skills to transition to the EMS world. Patrick has never experienced monotony on the job, because every day presents new challenges that help him grow. He appreciates that the leadership team at SCCAD take great care of employees and their families. Patrick is a member of the wellness committee, a group responsible for ensuring that paramedics have access to equipment and programs to maintain a healthy lifestyle. He recently earned his Community Paramedic credential, and plans to tackle the Critical Care program next.
Today, Battalion Chief Steve Scott celebrates 22 years of service with SCCAD! In addition to working closely with crews to provide exceptional patient care, Steve serves as a Task Force Leader for the St. Louis Metro Urban Search & Rescue Team. We appreciate his dedication to our team, our community and the region at large. Happy #SCCADiversary, Steve!
21 years ago today, paramedics Chris Jennings, Trish Kohlenhoefer and Chris Picker joined our team at SCCAD. They've been with us as we've navigated tremendous growth, and we appreciate the assistance they've provided to thousands of patients through the years - Happy #SCCADiversary!
Inside these boxes are delicious holiday meals prepared by the teams at Sugarfire Winghaven & Sugarfire Wentzville - the #sccadems #paramedics working on #christmas will be enjoying them thanks to the generosity of the Sugarfire crew, and their suppliers at US Foods & Kuna. We are absolutely overwhelmed by the support that our community shows our team.
#MeetTheTeam: Josh Peterson has been a paramedic with SCCAD for 4 years. Josh was inspired to join the EMS field after watching his father, who is also a paramedic. Josh has found a love for the responsibilities that come with being a paramedic, but he most enjoys the people that he’s met along the way. He strongly believes that the people are what make the difference at SCCAD. While he might not have the longest tenure compared to some of his coworkers, Josh is excited for the opportunities that will come as he continues his journey of being a paramedic.

In these situations, the highly-skilled #paramedics of the #sccadems #criticalcare team are here to help! Learn more about the expert care provided by this group in this clip from our friends at #OFallonTV.

Anid the challenges of 2020, here’s a great story to kick-start your weekend! This morning, members of the East Central EMS Region committee presented two #sccadems crews with Lifesaving Awards for their efforts on high-acuity calls last year. Paramedics Scott Cooke and Mike Hall, along with Battalion Chief Steve Scott were honored for a successful pediatric cardiac arrest resuscitation, and their patient, Harrison, was able to join them for the honor! Paramedic Jeff Hinkebein, Lieutenant Kim Fox and Battalion Chief Laura Sicking were recognized for their efforts for a patient who experienced complications after delivery of a newborn.
The crew at Freedom Fitness Wentzville asked if they could be part of #filltheambulancewithfood for Operation Food Search, and delivered in a HUGE way! 900 lbs. of food to help #healhunger in one stop!
#filltheambulancewithfood for Operation Food Search is off to an awesome start! 1628 lbs. of food & $945 in cash donations to help #healhunger in #sccmo!
It is with immense pride that we announce that #sccadems Battalion Chief Brian Schnelle was presented the Greater St. Louis Area Fire Chiefs Association’s Phoenix Award. This honor is reserved for individuals who have been involved in at least 10 successful cardiac arrest saves. Brian had been part of 11 and counting, and we’re so grateful that the individuals he and his crews have impacted are able to spend this holiday season with their family!
#MeetTheTeam: Renee Foeller has been a paramedic for 20 years, 15 of which have been spent with SCCAD! Every time that she guides a patient through a traumatic point in their life, Renee feels a sense of pride that her work helps to better the community. The simple thank you’s she receives from patients are what truly make the difference to her, as they are a reminder that even the smallest of actions can make the biggest difference in a life. Renee believes that a combination of industry leading & technology, as well as the most dedicated people set SCCAD apart from anywhere else.
Today we have four great #paramedics celebrating four years of service! Please join us in wishing Nick Dohrman, Dorian Herndon, Ben Hess and Kevin Vogelsang a very happy #SCCADiversary! Milestone #SCCADiversary Alert! Today marks THREE DECADES of service for Battalion Chief Laura Sicking! Laura joined our team in 1990, and has been a vital part of our growth. She's worked in all corners of our community first as a paramedic before her promotion to BC. She's a capable leader that helps us deliver on our mission to provide extraordinary mobile healthcare each and every day. Congratulations on 30 years, Laura - we appreciate you!
This week, the American Ambulance Association stressed the importance of additional #Covid19 stimulus funding for #EMS, citing the significantly increased overtime and PPE, coupled with reductions in revenue that services throughout the nation have endured. Kim St. Onge and the KMOV team talked with us about the financial impact that Covid 19 has had on #sccadems - take a look here:
Happy second #SCCADiversary to Accounting Supervisor Lori Nordstrom! You won't find her in the back of an ambulance, but rather ensuring that all things financial flow smoothly. From payroll to purchasing, Lori is adept at making "cents" of it all (see what we did there!). Kudos on two years, and here's to many more, Lori!
Five great members of our team are celebrating five years of service with SCCAD today! Kudos to Paramedics Erika DeMoulin, Jonathan Mercer, Chad Metz, Aaron Parker and Greg Rupp. In addition to their day to day duties, each of these individuals have found other ways to give to our organization and our community, taking on leadership roles within SCCAD Outreach to lead #LifesaverCPR sessions, chair fundraisers like our golf tournament, and much more. Kudos on five years - here's to many more!
#MeetTheTeam: Blake Gabbard has been a paramedic for 13 years, spending the last 6 years with SCCAD. Blake became a paramedic because he wanted the ability to help people at their worst moment and have variety in his workplace; two things he encountered as part of an ice rescue that later became the inspiration for the movie Breakthrough. It was special for him to see the work that he and all the paramedics at SCCAD do be recognized in such an impactful way. As a member of t...he #CriticalCare team, Blake often encounters high acuity patients that need specialized transport and treatment past the emergency room doors. He was excited to become a member of the growing team, knowing SCCAD’s commitment to excellence and history of expansion. His goal was to see critical care be championed in the community, and helping the program expand has provided opportunities to grow professionally. See more

Amid this challenging year, we as an organization have many things to be #thankful for; not the least of which is a supportive community that demonstrates time and again that they support the work we do. We see it, and we appreciate it. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
Join us for a quick fly around (and fly-through!) our Consolidated Campus! In this clip, you'll see progress of the fleet maintenance, logistics & supply, training, simulation lab, lobby and conference room areas. We'll continue to bring you video updates as the building takes shape, and look forward to welcoming members of our community in 2021 when the facility is completed. The campus is part of the District's 10-year capital improvement plan, which also includes numerous EMS stations and vehicle purchases. Take a look at the transformation that's taken place at the site of our consolidated campus facility! The facility is completely under roof, and the LayneCo Construction Services team is hard at work on the interior. We're still targeting a mid-2021 completion, and look forward to moving in. Yesterday, we were able to capture some aerial footage of crews from more than a dozen agencies across the region working collaboratively to battle the blaze at Woodland Marina
#MeetTheTeam: Mark "Sharky Alexander has been in the field of EMS for 30 years, 24 of them with SCCAD. Before coming to SCCAD, he worked as a firefighter in Illinois, specializing in underwater search & rescue. Upon suggestion from a colleague, he made the move to SCCAD to be part of an up and coming community. During his tenure he has been part of the USAR and SWAT teams, and has served as an adjunct instructor for many training center classes. Mark has a keen interest in scuba diving, and has done so all over the world; when he's not at work, he serves as an on-set medic and safety diver for National Geographic in various waters around the globe! In 2010, he was inducted into the Explorers Club of NYC.
Today’s fire at Woodland Marina presented several unique challenges, but proved to be strong example of collaboration and teamwork. Under the command of Orchard Farm Fire Protection District, resources from around the county and beyond were put into action. SCCAD paramedics treated and transported one patient with non-life threatening injuries, and provided rehab services to firefighters working to contain the blaze.
We're already looking ahead to the next #sccadems #infrastructure projects in our Capital Improvement Plan! In spring of next year, we'll start construction on two new stations - on north of 364, and one in Harvester. Get the details in this video!
