Say It Forward

I did two more recording sessions with Narvel Felts on May 31 and June 1, continuing to record his life history. In these sessions he talked about his appearances on the Grand Ol’ Opry and HEE HAW. He also mentioned some bands that have backed him in the past that went on to become famous on their own. I spoke also with Stacia Felts Stone then recorded recollections from Narvel’s sister and friend and associate Joe Keene.

Several years ago Bob Kingsley said on his weekly countdown that Funny How Time Slips Away was the most successful song Willie Nelson ever wrote. At that time it had been recorded by 80 singers. Then he played the version that went highest on the charts and stayed there the longest. Who do you think that was?

I'm discovering some great stories through my Say It Forward interviews. I recently talked with a couple from England, now U.S. citizens. At the time they became engaged he was a seafarer and she was employed as a nanny. Their wedding was delayed fifteen months because of his previous work commitment. Turns out, he sailed around the world three times before they finally took the vows.
