Check it out, first show at Saxquest since before the dark times. Please stay tuned for more info
My soulful musical brother and friend of Saxquest, Jeff Watkins, had a series of mini strokes on his recent tour. Jeff was James Brown’s right hand man on stage for over 20 years until James Brown passed. A beautiful cat and the most humble/genuine person you’d ever meet. Just hung with him last week in the shop and he was at it 100%. This is a shock!! Please help out if you can
Great hang in the shop today with the great Jeff Watkins. Jeff was James Brown’s saxophone player from ‘94 until the end and can shred like no one else on the saxophone. If you’re in Chicago or Minneapolis this weekend check him out with the New Orleans Suspects. He’s playing the City Winery in Chicago tomorrow and will then be at the Hook & Ladder in Minneapolis on Saturday.
Would be honored to have you join in on the National Saxophone Museum first livestream event this Sunday June 6.
Hey sax friends, if you are into it please check out and subscribe to us on Youtube. We just posted a few gems from the play test video archive. We keep a pretty stacked set of play lists on our Youtube channel as a point of educational reference. For your Monday troubles here is a quick video of Ben playing on a Selmer SII tenor in original white finish! https://youtu.be/zsB-YY0LXJc
Great video by Henri Selmer Paris Saxophones!!
Hi Saxophone peeps. Just a quick post. If you are curious, Zac posted a very full spread of photos of the new Selmer Supreme alto on our website last night if you want a closer look. https://www.saxquest.com//new-selmer-paris-supreme-alto-sa Also just got in a very FINE TM Custom tenor for our sales floor. If you are in the STL area I very much recommend making an appointment to check it out. https://www.saxquest.com//tm-custom-500sl-congnac-lacquer-
At Saxquest, between repairs and sales, we shipped over 50 instruments out last month and thought we were doing pretty good. Drop in the bucket compared to C.G. Lambbin, Henry Kelly, Fred Krufeld, Darrel (Arka) Horne, Ralph (Amos) Fischer, Stephen Ferrand Middle Row: Lloyd Kreider, Olga Butterfield, Vera Rine, Linda Haven, Hugh Taylor, Shirley Murphy, Goldie Bechtel Front Row: Barbara Munienmaier, Lottie Denton Absent: Jean Long, Isabel White See more
We currently have several beautiful refurbished R13 Bflat and A clarinets. If you’re looking for a great clarinet give us a call to schedule an appointment or email [email protected]!
In honor of International Women's month Saxquest would like to honor Elise Boyer Hall. Elise was one of the very first people to popularize the use of the saxophone in the United States. Before Bird, before Hawk and before Bechet it was Elise Hall. It is also said she originally started playing the saxophone for something to do while recovering from typhoid fever, if that is not super bad ass I do not know what is. Thank you Elise!
This instrument is truly special!!!
What do you do when you need to fit a neck for a one-of-a-kind saxophone but don't have an appropriately sized tenon swedging die? Make one! #machiningmonday #uniquesax #saxrepair #nationalsaxophonemuseum #nsm #spoileralert #coolthingstocome
