It’s hard not to have our usual community garden days in person, but here is a chance to ask your gardening questions to our Extension experts! Weekly on Wednesdays starting this week!

The Salem Community Garden will be hosting their Meet us at the Garden event this Saturday at starting at 10:00 behind the Salem United Methodist Church. The ...first half hour of the event will be your chance to ask a Master Gardener questions and get hands on gardening demonstrations. Then from 10:30 until noon, it will be garden volunteer work. If you would like to have your own plot, just call 729-3196 to sign up. The first plot is free and it is just $10 for each additional plot you want. Free Cooking Matters Grocery Store Workshop to be held July 9 at Country Mart.

Hi friends! This Saturday is another chance to see the garden, learn from Master Gardeners, and finish planting or pull some weeds! If it rains we will cancel, but fingers crossed for some clear weather for a bit Saturday morning! Check out this video for a tip about prepping soil in the spring!

Today's events at Salem Community Garden has been cancelled for rain. 801 E. Scenic Rivers Blvd., Behind the Salem United Methodist Church. The Nutrition and He...alth Specialist was going to demonstrate a delicious collard green, black eyed pea and red wine vinaigrette recipe. However, you can still view the video below for instructions to prepare Collard Greens at home. Collard green are from the brassica plant family, as is broccoli, kale, cauliflower, mustard greens and cabbage. A serving of one of these foods each day adds important anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant sources to your meal plan. Hi gardeners- well the weather isn’t on our side today so we will cancel today’s activities and try again next month! Please don’t forget to get out to your plots as soon as it dries out and keep them weeded. Newspaper and cardboard make great weed barriers around your plants. Stay dry today!
