Jill was born and raised in Kansas City and is the youngest child of a big family. Her mom was the best role model in all ways and to this day she will ask herself, What would Georgia do (or say)? during a difficult decision or conversation. As an RN for 45 years, it was her mom who inspired her to be a nurse from an early age. Jill and her husband have three boys and the sweetest, most adorable Labrador. Jill started her career as a nurse at Children’s Mercy - first as a ...Nurse Tech during school and then as a RN. She held many roles while at CMH and consider it where she grew up. After taking some time off to raise her busy family, she had the honor of caring for several family members on hospice and this is where she fell in love with hospice care. In 2014 she became a volunteer for Saint Luke's Hospice and convinced the director to give her a shot at an RN position at the Hospice House in 2015. "I love my job and consider it a huge honor to care for patients and their families at the end of their lives. I see God's work every day and get to work with the best staff in the city. I'm one lucky girl!" In her free time, Jill loves gardening, canning fresh produce, reading, spending time at her farm, and is an avid Royals fan. #staffSpotlight

Because of the #pandemic, 2020 will go on record as the deadliest year in U.S. history with more than 3 million lives lost. KMBC 9 spoke to Bruce Leisy, bereavement coordinator with Saint Luke's Home Care and Hospice, about #healthy ways to cope with grief this holiday season. https://bit.ly/3nJkLQ8

Fun fact: our chapel features a "tree of life" stained glass window, and the altar was built from a tree on the grounds. #HospitalWeek

Express Yourself Camp Cancellation Letter: We are all in unique and unprecedented times as we are doing what we can to keep ourselves, friends, family and our communities safe from the spread of COVID-19. To that regard we have been constantly monitoring the impacts and guidance from the government and local health departments. In this time of uncertainty and constantly changing timelines, we are placed in a most difficult position. Even if we're on the downhill side of this ...pandemic by late May, convening kids, volunteers and staff early in the post-outbreak recovery period is not worth the risk of another possible outbreak. Though very difficult we have made the decision to cancel Express Yourself Camp for this summer. We will begin cancelling registrations and processing refunds for fees paid next week. This is certainly not the news you want to read, or we want to deliver. We do want you to know however, that we are exploring the possibility of holding the camp later in the year when it is safe for us all to be back together again. Wishing for your continued health and well being. Geoff Gleason Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri

Caregivers spend much of their days ensuring their loved ones are cared for, and it's important to remember you cannot fill another cup from an empty cup. At Hospice House, we realize it's hard for family members to take a break, so we have nutrition rooms and staff the café with healthy options daily. Here, family members can find a nutritious meal, a welcoming smile, and a moment of quiet to refill their cups. #NationalNutritionMonth

As with all departments at Saint Luke's, it takes a team to care for the families and patients at Saint Luke's Hospice House. We are proud of our skilled nurses, social workers, hospice aides, music therapists, chaplains, bereavement services, volunteers, infusion therapists, dieticians, and physicians who work together to care for our families and patients. They go the extra mile to support one another and our patients to create a caring and sacred environment for loved ones in their time of need. We thank our staff for providing their compassionate and dedicated service. #EmployeeAppreciationDay
