A cardiologist at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute, Dr. Sanjaya Gupta, is the lead researcher on a new study to test the safety of MRI scans for patients with implanted heart devices. Gupta’s team enrolled 532 patients with older heart devices who underwent an MRI between 2015 and 2019 and found that no patient or heart device was harmed with non-invasive safety steps taken to test the device before and after the procedure.
