Happy 4th of July! Keep your family and home safe with these firework safety tips: --Only use fireworks away from people, houses, and flammable material. --Never point or throw fireworks at another person. --Keep a bucket of water nearby to fully extinguish fireworks that don't go off or in case of fire. --Soak both spent and unused fireworks in water for a few hours before discarding.

Our kids and teens are the most likely to be injured by fireworks. Keep them safe! --Don't trust kids and teens to stay away from the excitement of fireworks going off. Create a safety zone with ropes or other barriers. --Only light one device at a time and maintain a safe distance after lighting. --Never ignite devices in a container. --Do not try to re-light or handle malfunctioning fireworks.

What is Carbon Monoxide or CO? It's a gas produced by burning fuels like gas or oil. It can also be produced by heaters, fireplaces, furnace and other appliances and cooking devices, as well as by idling vehicles. It's colorless, odorless and tasteless, so you won't know it's present unless you have a detector. To stay safe, keep a CO alarm on every level of your house and near every bedroom.

Prevent carbon monoxide poisoning! If you need to warm a vehicle, remove it from the garage immediately after starting it. Don't leave the engine running even if the garage door is open. Generators and grills should be used outside the home, away from windows and doors. Also, make sure vents for the dryer, furnace, stove and fireplace are clear of snow and other debris.

A. - Wearing bulky clothes or winter coats can prevent a snug fit of the harness, allowing the child to slip through the straps in a crash.
