Sabbath Rest Retreat 30.11.2020

Matthew 10:39 Jesus said, If you CLING to YOUR life, you will lose it; but if you GIVE UP your life for me, you will FIND it. Jesus said, If your FIRST CONCERN is to look after YOURSELF, you’ll never find yourself. But if you FORGET about yourself and look to me, you’ll find BOTH yourself and me. MSG Jesus said, Whoever finds his [LOWER] life will lose it [the higher life], and whoever loses his [lower] life on MY ACCOUNT will find it [the HIGHER life]. AMP

WHY is hope so IMPORTANT? Without it, we lose our motivation for life, family and ministry. Without hope we tend to go backward, instead of forward. Without hope we retreat from Godly Vision and follow our flesh, instead of the Spirit. Without hope we have no target for our faith to aim at; no direction for our faith to work toward. Faith is NOW, but hope is FUTURE. Hebrews 11:1 NOW FAITH is the substance of things HOPED for, the evidence of things not seen. NKJV 11: 1 NOW FA...ITH is confidence in what we HOPE for and assurance about what we do not see. NIV 11: 1 FAITH IS the confidence that what we HOPE for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. NLT

Most of the month of November I (DAVE TRUNCONE) have taken a SABBATICAL. After many years of a minimum of 80 hour work weeks and putting everyone else's needs above my own, I took a leave of absence, I took 30 days off. I was DEPLETED EMOTIONALLY, PHYSICALLY and MENTALLY. I spent a week in Panama City Beach, Florida, some time at SABBATH REST MINISTRIES (In Zalma, Mo about 12 miles from Puxico) and Branson, Mo. This was my agenda, Lots of Rest, Relaxation.. I spent time p...Continue reading

HOW TO OBSERVE THANKSGIVING..... Count your BLESSING instead of your crosses; Count your GAINS, instead of losses; Count your JOYS instead of your woes;... Count your FRIENDS instead of your foes; Count your SMILES instead of your tears; Count your COURAGE instead of your fears; Count your FULL YEARS instead of your lean; Count your KIND DEEDS instead of your mean; Count your HEALTH instead of your Wealth; Count on GOD instead of yourself. Some Very Practical Ways to PRAY for Your Pastors During this time of Pastor Appreciation Month. Also, take time to write a brief and sincere note to them (pastor and spouse) ....THANKING them for ways they serve you, your family, church family, community and HIS kingdom. Heb 13:17 Obey your spiritual leaders and submit to them [continually recognizing their authority over you], for they are constantly KEEPING WATCH over your souls and GUARDING YOUR SPIRITUAL WELFARE, as men who will have to render an ACCOUNT [of their trust]. [Do your part to] let them do this with GLADNESS and not with sighing and groaning, for that would not be profitable to you [either]. AMP

Sabbath Rest Ministry.LITTLE by LITTLE we’ve been in the evolving process of clearing ground during the past 18 months. Cutting trees (dead, storm damage of healthy trees, preparation for cabin) and then the laborious and time-consuming task of cutting up the tree tops and dragging them to burning piles. Also, in clearing more land (5 acres) that we purchased adjacent to Sabbath Rest last year. We’ve been cutting dozens and dozens of smaller trees and repeating the pro...cess of burn piles, to clear the ground. In the past 30 days, we’ve been able to use a chain saw, rock rake, disk, and plant some grass seed, while we wait for rain. It’s been over 30 days since We’ve had moisture. Also, in the past two weeks we had a man and his dozer here doing land prep for the cabin and also clearing out many small trees and stumps on 4 acres of land. We’re Grateful for the Lord’s PROVISION (spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically and financially) in moving forward in making numerous improvements to the ground at Sabbath Rest. Our desire Is to continually enhance the property with walking paths and other numerous projects that create a culture of REST for the ministers and spouses who come for Sabbaticals a few days or a few weeks. THANK You for your prayers, labors and gifts in helping us to move from where we are to where HE wants us to be! MISSION STATEMENT to provide a place for ministers and their spouses to experience a Sabbath Rest (Rest, Refocus and Renew) to accomplish their God-given calling. QUESTIONS who can come? If You’re Not THANKFUL, You Might Be A TURKEY ,,,, We've started blogging some articles on our website. If you're interested, please go to sabbathrest.net/blog I saw a sign on a marquee that said, Get Rich Quick, Count Your Blessings. How true! I read a story a few years ago that bears repeating. BEGINNING well is a momentary thing; FINISHING well is a lifelong thing. Ravi Zacharias Hebrews 12: 1 - 2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with ENDURANCE the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he ENDURED the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

(T.J. & Brooke Woodard) So glad we took a couple of days last week to get away to Sabbath Rest Retreat. As a young pastor I hear all the time about BURNOUT and how pastors need to REST. I like to think my first 3 years as a lead pastor, I did ok at that. This year has been different. I convinced myself that because our church calendar hadn't been as full, that I wasn't as busy and shouldn't be as tired. I was wrong. I need to return to this place and UNPLUG again, but for n...ow it was a needed TIME to dream and prepare for the next season. Pastor Ed and Karen were so generous to my wife and I (as always). I would encourage every minister, young or old, to go to Sabbath Rest, even if you can only go for a day. It is so cozy and nice and affordable. Check it out! To my MINISTER Friends (Sarah Scott) ....Just spent a MUCH NEEDED break at Sabbath Rest Retreat in Southeast Missouri. If you are in ministry you need to check this place out. I had no idea how much I needed to just get away, REST and spend TIME with God. I had no idea how TIRED I was. We were able to stay a few days at Sabbath Rest with good friends Kevin and Carol Barron, (pastors in Perryville, MO) and then a few days just Bill and I. Everyone needs to unplug at times ...and this is especially true for pastors during these times. I am REFRESHED and RENEWED and feel 100% better. Check-out the Facebook page for Sabbath Rest Retreat, contact Ed and Karen. They are wonderful hosts, and do above and beyond to make your stay great. I have some information if you need it.
