Fantastic article in the Business Journal today about Lyndon Wade, David Lindsey Wade, and Judy Rush and their hand in supporting local artists - giving them a space to flourish both professionally and personally. "Kansas City has become a hub for 'incredible, high-end artists,' Lyndon Wade said. Its growth in the arts sector has been driven by outside developers and others investing in Kansas City, as well as advertising agencies like VMLY&R and Barkley that have lured top-...notch talent to the area. Local residents also are supporting artists, who now can make a living in Kansas City. 'In my career, I would see all these great artists come up and work with us, and then they would move to the coasts,' Judy Rush said. 'Now, I see people intentionally move to Kansas City. They are choosing us.' Even the agents’ and clients’ opinion of Kansas City has completely changed. 'They get it now', Lyndon Wade said." In the 1970s Judy Rush was one of the best (and only!) retouchers in the country, working out of her Kansas City in-home studio. Ad execs from prestigious agencies like Leo Burnett would fly in from the coasts to work with her on highly-acclaimed projects. (Ever heard of the Marlboro Man!?) And that was just a typical Monday. Judy has been changing the game on a national and international scale as a digital artist for 50 years, raised two *fairly* successful photographers (@thewadebrothers), currently runs the show behind-the-scenes for upwards of 6 other local businesses, and manifests joy wherever she goes. She epitomized what it means to be an impactful woman in our industry. Happy #InternationalWomensDay to @kayrush2 and all of you powerful women out there.

New Roster Artist Shawn Brackbill wasn't always a photographer. He actually got his start in the music industry as a tour manager! So it's no surprise that since he first picked up a camera Shawn has been shooting all things related to music. Everything from moody B&W portraits of David Byrne, Wayne Coyne and Henry Rollins to editorial and commercial pieces for MOJO, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone. Brackbill has since moved beyond music... covering the backstage scene at New ...York Fashion Week for Dazed and Confused and photographing for Vogue, Interview, ELLE Magazine and others. Brackbill’s fresh perspective and beautiful use of light has also caught the eye of lifestyle-minded clothing companies, like J.Crew and Lands’ End, brands that appreciate editorial-inspired marketing campaigns. Let’s not talk about the past. Dan is not interested in talking about his years playing rock and roll in rat-infested german dive bars. Nor is he too concerned with rehashing the first time he closed a million dollar loan in the banking world. Dan just isn’t preoccupied with speaking to his unorthodox way about the first thirty-three years of his life. The truth is, even we do not know where exactly he came from. It was as if this tall, calm, mustachio’d anglo man came amblin...g through the glass door wearing leather while carrying only an heir of idgaf. Well, that’s just what he did (and presumably muttered, too). No one really knew his motive he was no self-proclaimed producer or decorated editor. However, we all knew immediately that he belonged here with us. So, we reeled him in. He isn’t looking back and we won’t either. You’ll be seeing him soon, that’s for damn sure. *It's OFFICIAL*!
