Rotary Club of Mt. Vernon, MO

Today at Mt. Vernon Rotary, Kathy Fairchild with the Lawrence County Historical Society gave us a presentation on Adamson Cabin located in Mt. Vernon. It was a great presentation! Sadly, however, it was not all good news. Kathy explained that the cabin, built in the 1860's, is having some issues. Vandals have caused some damage but also time has caused even more damage. Pictured below is Kathy holding a piece of the cabin that has deteriorated over the years. Also picture...d is President Elect Marsha Jones. There are several places like this around the cabin. The good news is that someone is coming to repair the damages! There are lots of things that can be done to help preserve this piece of Lawrence County history. If you would like to help contact the Historical Society for details! This is a worth while project that many Mt. Vernon Rotarians have helped with in the past and we will continue to do so! Service Above Self!

This week, Mt. Vernon Rotary had the honor to listen to Missionary Carolyn Beleshe as she told her story about being called to the mission field and of her service to others over the years. Her focus and passion is on orphans in other countries. So much so that she has an orphanage named after her in Cambine, Mozambique! Thank you Carolyn for your service to others!

Welcome Pastor Steve Lutes to the Mt. Vernon Rotary Club! Steve was inducted into the club by current President Scott Cook and several of our past presidents! Our club continues to grow! It is exciting to see so many people who can come together to serve others and make our community a better place! Welcome Steve!

Exciting times at Mt. Vernon Rotary! As you can see from one of our previous posts, we were again able to provide scholarships to high school seniors! This was made possible in part thanks to the success of our car show. The numbers are still coming in but it appears we brought in over $5,000.00 for our scholarship fund! THANK YOU!
