Flat markers (or flats) are traditionally made of granite and are installed to be flush with the ground for ease of maintenance. The marker, made of granite or bronze, is set on top of a concrete foundation. This leaves the face of the memorial flush with the ground.

Located northeast of Mexico City, the ruins contain 2,000 apartments, pyramids, and temples set aside for religious rituals. Though the city was discovered and named by the Aztecs in the 1400s, most of its origin and history, including who built it, remains unknown.
