Pencil cactus (Euphorbia tirucalli) and Firesticks or Sticks on Fire (Euphorbia tirucalli rosea) is an easy to grow succulent. It’s not a cactus at all!! All you need is bright light to full sun, well drained succulent soil (like our special blend) and a little water- every 2-3 weeks in the summer and once a month for the rest of the year!! Firesticks colors up best in cooler temperatures and good bright light. All euphorbias have a white sap that can be irritating to some skin so handle with care.

Another beautiful yellow tree to brighten up your yard! Cornus mas 'Golden Glory' Cornelian Cherry An early blooming small tree in the dogwood clan. Growing similarly to other dogwoods, 15-20' tall with a more pronounced horizontal habit as it matures. Clusters of small yellow flowers appear in early spring, February/March, before the foliage emerges. Red fruits (drupes) ripen in mid to late summer will be relished by the birds. A lesser known ornamental tree for early season interest. has decent, typical dogwood fall foliage color as well.

Featured shrub of the day! Stunning yellow Hamamelis x intermedia 'Arnold Promise' Witchhazel A popular vase shaped shrub, 10-12' tall, with oval shaped, round lobed leaves that turn a russet color in the fall. Early spring, February usually, yellow lacey and fragrant flowers appear throughout the structure of the shrub, attracting some of the early pollinators. Best in partial sun with adequate drainage. Provide ample space for this rather large growing shrub or small tree.
