Conserve where you safely can under these extremely difficult weather conditions. Thanks to all the RMU staff who have been, and are still out keeping the lights on and the water flowing. We have extremely hard working community servants in Rolla and our neighboring cities and counties clearing roads and responding to emergencies of all kinds. They all deserve our thanks!
We will be closed on Monday, February 15th 2021 in observance of Presidents day. For emergencies call 573-364-2195. Please stay warm.
Unfortunately colder temps are usually followed by higher utility bills. Here are a few tips to try and lower those bills. * Use the sun. Open your blinds during the day when the sun is shining, to let it do what it does best. Warm things up. After dark close the shutters and try to keep as much of that heat as possible in. * Dress for the season. Winter is the perfect time to wear your favorite sweats, comfy socks and cuddle up with some extra blankets and pillows.... * Run a humidifier. Air inside tends to be dryer in the winter due to your heating system. However humid air holds heat better so running a humidifier can help your house feel warmer. * Keep the furnace clean. Remember to check your furnace filter. Dirty filters can cause your heating system to work harder, which can raise your bills. * Remember to close off vents in rooms you don't use frequently. The forecast is calling for a lot of wintery weather over the next week. Stay safe and warm everyone.
Extremely cold weather is on the way. Try to follow some of these tips to help prevent your pipes from freezing: *Make sure you keep the heat on. Even if the building is going to be vacant, maintain a temperature of over 50F. *Keep interior doors open to cabinets with pipes in them(such as under your sink). This allows the rest of the house to help keep your pipes warm.... *If you're really worried about a pipe bursting, turn the faucet so that it drips just a little bit. This helps relieve pressure to the pipes. *Extra insulation can also help keep pipes from freezing. This is particularly significant for pipes in areas such as garages and attics. *Extreme cold can add more stress to your homes systems that can result in possible costly repairs and elevated utility bills.

Did you know that a dirty air filter can restrict airflow? In return, your unit must work harder in order to pump warm air through your home. The end result is an inefficient system that costs you extra money. Many filters need to be swapped out once per month. Check your unit today to see what is recommended.

After a cold start this morning, temperatures will recover in the upper 70’s. A good afternoon task could be to do a heating system check! That checklist involves, a test run to ensure that your furnace is running properly, seasonal maintenance which includes, replacing the furnace and air conditioner filters, inspect and clean heating and exhaust vents, and don’t forget to check for carbon monoxide leaks.
