Hot and cold therapies both have places in pain management, but it's important to choose the right approach for your dog's specific needs. Heat Pack or Warm ...Compress - Particularly good for sore muscles or muscle spasms. If your dog seems to move more slowly the day after a long walk or a visit to the dog park, a warm compress might help ease stiffness. - Do NOT use during the first 3-5 days post-injury or post-surgery. - It should be warm and soothing, not hot. - If you're using a commercial warm compress/hot pack, make sure you wrap it in a dishtowel or pillowcase! Ice Packs - Good to reduce swelling and inflammation, particularly in the first few days post-surgery or traumatic injury. - Good to use after exercise if your dog seems sore. - Do not leave the ice pack in place for longer than 20 minutes. - NEVER apply directly to your dog's skin!

Dear River Canine Rehab Family, We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued trust in us to provide your pet with veterinary care. This has been a difficult year for all of us and we miss spending time with you in person to share our love for pets. We would like to let you know of a few upcoming changes that we feel will allow us to serve you better. 1) Signs in Parking lot:... You will soon see new signs at parking spaces with instructions on our continued curbside service. We will continue curbside until the virus is better controlled and it is safe to allow our staff to have closer contact. Our hope is the signs will make it easy for you to know what to do when you arrive. We are working as quickly and diligently as we can to care for your pet and serve you. 2) Office hours change: We will be closed every day from 12:30-1:30 pm to allow for our staff to take a dedicated lunch break. Please be mindful of this change if you are needing to pick up meds/food during your lunch break. As always, we are closed 12:00-2:00 pm to allow for weekly staff educational training on Thursdays. We wish you a safe and healthy New Year! Dr. Kara Amstutz Hometown Veterinary Hospital & River Canine Rehabilitation

We have had some awesome success stories but have been too busy to share!! Here is a recent patient, Tucker, who suffered a cruciate injury of his knee. He underwent the TPLO procedure and healed up like a champ. He was a superstar in rehab as well! Way to go Tucker!!

No pet needs to live in pain! We have so many treatment options to help them. But the first step is recognizing they are in pain.

Miss Ginger just graduated from Rehabilitation after undergoing TPLO surgery on both knees. We have grown to love her and her sweet momma over the last several months and will miss them both! Good luck to Ginger!

We cannot be more proud of Mr. Bickford’s progress. This is what happens when you have a dedicated team that has the determination and patience to see a pet through the hard times. Where others see failure...we see opportunity. We love you Mr. Bickford! https://youtu.be/zXDwILXa6Jo

Some happy news to report! Gunner decided to go on a field trip today but lost his way back home. A very nice lady found him and brought him to see us. We chec...ked for a microchip and BINGO he had one! Within 10 minutes his mom and dad were at the clinic to take him home! They had been searching all over for the little rascal. Microchips work!! Please chip your pet if they are not already!
