The Cat Who books center on the life of (former) newspaper reporter, James Qwilleran, and his two Siamese cats, Koko (short for Kao K'o Kung) and Yum Yum, first in an unnamed city and then in the fictitious small town of Pickax located in Moose County "400 miles north of everywhere." Although never formally stated in her books, the towns, cou...nties and lifestyles described in the series are generally accepted to be modeled after Bad Axe, Michigan, where Braun resided with her husband until the mid-1980s. The Cat Who... is a series of twenty-nine mystery novels and three related collections by Lilian Jackson Braun and published by G. P. Putnam's Sons, featuring a reporter named Jim Qwilleran and his Siamese cats, Kao K'o-Kung (Koko for short) and Yum Yum. The first was written in 1966, with two more following in 1967 and 1968. Stecyk III (a.k.a. Craig Stecyk), Greg Escalante, and Eric Swenson to both help define and celebrate urban alternative and underground contemporary art. Juxtapoz is published by High Speed Productions, the same company that publishes #Thrasher #skateb...oard magazine in San Francisco, California. Juxtapoz launched with the mission of connecting modern genres like psychedelic and hot road art, #graffiti, #streetart, and #illustration, to the context of broader more historically recognized genres of art like Pop, assemblage, old master painting, and conceptual art. Although based in San Francisco, Juxtapoz was founded upon the belief in the virtues of Southern California pop culture and freedom from the conventions of the "established" New York City art world. Doc Savage is one of pop culture's most enduring characters, the "polymath" who was a detective, doctor, scientist and adventurer. His tales were adapted for radio, film, comics and paperback books, with Stan Lee reportedly saying Savage was the forerunner of modern superheroes.
