RMS Boys Basketball in action at Lafayette County!
Good Morning Parents/Guardians! We know google has been a new feature this year and although the students have gotten to work a lot with it daily at school, we understand that as parents you may have some questions. We hope the two videos below are helpful in explaining how Google Classroom works, how to navigate it, and more! RMS BASKETBALL: Boys will practice after school and girls will practice late today.
"First Chapter Friday" We listen to the first chapter or two of a book every Friday. These books vary between realistic fiction, science fiction/fantasy, and ...historic fiction and are best sellers and award nominees. I try to choose books that also have a film adaptation. I encourage students to watch the movie, not because it is like the book, but as a way of exploring their interests. My hope is that students will listen to the first chapter or two and become interested in the book and therefore want to continue reading it. If they don't want to read the book, then I hope they will want to watch the movie and enjoy it so much that they go back and read the book. Even more, I hope they enjoy the book and movie so much that they discover other things that might interest them outside of what they already know. Today's book was The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. It is historical fiction and takes place in Germany during World War II. I encourage students to read the book - it should take around 4 hours total to read it. From this book, students may learn that they are interested in the time period around World War II which can open them up to many more topics and books that they might enjoy. (It's like the domino effect but with books.)
