Christians everywhere are acknowledging today the death of Jesus, celebrating Good Friday. I always use it as a day of reflection. Today I reflected on these words that Jesus spoke before he died on the cross: Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34a). Jesus spoke with compassion for the soldiers who were torturing him and the other 2 prisoners who were sentenced to death. It made me truly realize what an act of love forgiveness is. And ...in truth, forgiveness is more healing for the one doing the forgiveness. So I sat with what is my cross, my darkness that needed to be transformed. So I went inside myself through meditation to release old hurts and free myself. I used a guided meditation that I remembered from reading Janet Conner’s the lotus and the lily, called Release Your Prisoners. It can be found on her website janetconner.com. I had not done this exercise in about 7 years, so there was much to release. So grateful to have this day to reflect to let go of darkness and open to the light. May this weekend of rebirth bring you more love.
