Effective immediately, the ER of Brookside has resumed operations. Located at 6601 Rockhill Rd, the freestanding ER recently suspended operations due to a burst water pipe as a result of extreme weather conditions. The staff of the ER of Brookside worked tirelessly to ensure that the state-of-the-art facility remains a safe place for patients to receive high-quality, compassionate emergency care, and wants to thank the public for its patience. If you have questions about seeking ER care, or for free health advice from a nurse, contact HCA Midwest Health’s Consult-A-Nurse line at (833) 866-6726 or visit HCAMidwest.com.

Effective immediately, the ER of Brookside has temporarily suspended operation due to a burst water pipe and resulting water damage. The free-standing ER, which is part of the Research Medical Center Brookside Campus, is asking anyone in need of emergency services to instead visit the Research Medical Center main campus ER at 2316 E. Meyer Blvd. Remediation crews are on site at the ER of Brookside and the facility will reopen as soon as possible. If you or a loved one requires immediate medical attention, call 9-1-1 or get to the nearest emergency room. If you have questions about seeking ER care, or for free health advice from a nurse, contact HCA Midwest Health’s Consult-A-Nurse line at (833) 866-6726 or visit HCAMidwest.com.

Last March, as the COVID surge hit New Orleans with a shocking force, nurses from HCA Midwest Health volunteered to join their colleagues on the frontlines at s...ister hospital Tulane Medical Center. In turn, Tulane nurses raised their hands to support their fellow nurses as COVID resurges in the region. The first wave of Tulane nurses arrived at Research Medical Center this afternoon. They will start working side-by-side with their colleagues tomorrow, providing support and assistance during a healthcare crisis that is unprecedented in modern history. Additional nurses will be dispatched next week.

Today, we’re kicking off HCA Healthcare’s Virtual Giveback. In 2020, the communities that we serve need us more than ever, with non-profit and community organiz...ations playing a vital role in ensuring community needs are met in times of crisis. Our month-long Virtual Giveback initiative is a call-to-action for colleagues to be leaders and advocates by amplifying their giving and volunteer time. One such leader is Jyoti (Jo) Agarwal, a principal statistical programmer at Sarah Cannon Cancer Network, the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare. I am inspired by a shared Sarah Cannon vision to save and improve lives of people fighting against cancer, says Jo. It’s more than work it’s a passion, and it’s personal! She’s also enthusiastic about mental health and volunteers her free time to facilitate meditation workshops with her husband. The free workshops teach meditation as a way to help regulate emotions and be more resilient to stress. Through meditation, Jo is helping her community recharge, refresh, rejuvenate and nurture a deeper connection with others. One of the greatest things a human being can do is to give of himself or herself to serve others. Whenever we give selflessly, unasked for, we end up having more. There is no greater joy that can fill our heart than giving, Jo comments. Thank you, Jo, for giving it back and paying it forward particularly during this year of heightened mental health challenges. #VirtualGiveback #HCACares #ThankfulThursday
