FROM MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE: Missouri Agriculture Updates Dec. 18, 2020 Santa Claus Reindeer CVI Santa Claus cleared to spread Christmas cheer... Today, Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn and Missouri State Veterinarian Dr. Steve Strubberg approved livestock movement papers for nine reindeer. Mr. Santa Claus from The North Pole applied for the permit this week, providing proof of the healthy herd through a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection signed by licensed veterinarian Dr. Hermey Elf. Team leader, Rudolph, underwent additional testing to prove he’s the most famous reindeer of all. Although mischievous, Mr. Claus will be coordinating his deliveries to nice boys and girls with his scout elves sitting atop many Missouri shelves. I’m excited to see so many deserving children receive the Christmas cheer they are longing for, said Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn. Although we know that each family’s Christmas may look a little different this year, Santa and his team of elves have worked hard to prepare for the season. We’re excited to do our part to make sure the holidays can be celebrated across Missouri. Missourians are urged to provide Mr. Claus with plenty of milk and cookies for his long journey as he moves across the world. The permit approves Mr. Claus, his sleigh and nine reindeer for flight starting the night before Christmas, with a few exceptions for early deliveries.

COVID-19 UPDATE: The state and county are allowing increased social contact as Covid 19 cases have decreased in the area - most likely due to the increased social distancing. Covid 19 is obviously not eradicated and our population immunity can’t be known due to lack of available testing. For the safety of our clients and staff, we will continue to have limited contact as we have had for the last month as we move into the month of May. We feel less exposure is the safest w...ay to prevent infection and transfer of disease to our clients and staff. We, as a clinic, believe this is the socially responsible avenue to take to mitigate spread and at the same time establish population immunity until we understand as a health care community more about Covid 19. COVID-19 Update: As we approach uncharted territory with the pandemic of Covid-19 evident in neighboring counties and with the closing of Ray County, Renfro Veterinary Services is instituting the following procedures to ensure the health and safety of our veterinary staff while maintaining the health of your pets. Please be understanding and patient as we work together through these uncertain times together as a team. These procedures are instituted to reduce/eliminate viral... spread through the community. Companion Animals Scheduled Appointments still available for routine and urgent care COVID-19 Drop-off Policy: Interior Hand-off Method For clients who are not quarantined and do not have symptoms. Please phone us from your car upon arrival. Do NOT enter the building. Renfro Veterinary Service phone: 816-776-3737 One of our team members will obtain the following information: your information, pet information, and the reason for your visit. A technician will speak to you by phone to get a history on your pet and then will instruct you to enter the vestibule. Our technician will take your pet into the main hospital for assessment. Our medical team will call you to discuss initial findings and secure authorization for diagnostics/treatment/hospitalization. For payment and treatment authorization, we will be using verbal authorization with a witness and taking credit cards via phone. All cages will be immediately disinfected before the next pet arrives, including the latch and handle. The exterior door handles will also be disinfected between clients. Thank you for your understanding and please do not hesitate to call us with any questions. We’re here for you, your patients, and the communities in which we live. We will continue to keep you informed as news and information becomes available. .. Prescription refills and product purchases 1. Please call ahead and we will get them ready. Our lobby is open, but we are enforcing social distancing. If you are experiencing respiratory symptoms, are running a fever or have known exposure to someone who is sick, please do not come in. If you live in Clay, Jackson, Johnson or Lafayette counties - You are welcome to phone us from your car and we can go over proper procedures to get health care for your pet. If you do come in: We will ask you to remain at least six foot distance from our staff members We may ask you... to wait in an exam room rather than in a common waiting area We have available hand sanitizers and encourage you to use them Please know that we have implemented additional cleaning and disinfecting practices throughout the building. In regards to COVID-19: We are taking the coronavirus threat seriously and believe that it is our first and foremost priority to protect the health and safety of our staff and our clients. We are currently: * Open and seeing patients by appointment... *Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all non-porous surfaces multiple times daily. *Providing hand sanitizer throughout the building. *Requiring staff members to stay home if they are experiencing severe respiratory symptoms or an elevated body temperature or if they have a known exposure to someone who has been tested positive. *Asking that you, our clients, be respectful and not come into our facility if you are sick or have been knowingly exposed to someone else who has the virus. *Providing the opportunity for you to wait outside for your appointment if you are more comfortable doing so.
