Supporting Your Immune System with Reiki Aside from relieving pain and stress, Reiki is also very effective in enhancing the immune system. Dr. Bruce Lipton, a noted biologist, claims that 95 - 99% of illness is stress based. And instead of everyone being a product of their genes, we are more a product of how we respond to our environment, which may lead to stress. When we are in a continual state of stress, our immune system becomes compromised. Reiki helps to put one in a v...ery relaxed state, and therefore, the body's own innate intelligence kicks in to do the healing work. In other words, you body knows how to heal itself given the right conditions or environment. Reiki was initially called, "the Usui System of Natural Healing." The body can naturally respond to being more whole or healed. So, given we are currently living in a more stressful environment these days, anything we can do to enhance our immune system is beneficial. Simple things like taking a walk in nature or listening to calming music can help take the edge off of life. Several months ago, Brenda worked on a lady who was very stressed and came to get a Reiki session to see if it would help. After the session, the lady was definitely more relaxed. This same lady had a follow-up session the next month and told Brenda that her stress was virtually gone after the session. It did come back a little bit, but it was nothing near the challenge prior to the Reiki session. She was quite relieved! I just recently did a Reiki session for a young man who commented after the 1-hour session that he hadn't been that relaxed in a very long time. Yes, Reiki is very effective in releasing stress and bringing anyone back into a state of balance. A session is like hitting the "reset" button. I call Reiki one of the "essential tools for life."
