Summer time is here! We are excited to announce some additional summer classes. 6:45am - Starting June 9 we will be adding in this morning class! Kids Fit Classes! Starting June 14 on Mondays and Wednesdays we will be running kids classes simultaneously with our adult class for 8:15am. We will have two age groups with 7 & under and 8 & up. You can register your kiddo at www.realfitkc.com/shop... We would love to have you join us for our yoga and kickboxing classes as well. These are separate from our monthly membership. See you soon!

Meet our newest member Charlene, a very spry 87-year-old who is not afraid to take on new challenges. Balance issues and macular degeneration does not deter her from wanting to get stronger and healthier. Her first workout was five rounds and although it looked daunting at the time, once she made it through the fifth round she told me she wanted to do another, she was really enjoying it. Thank you for being such an inspiration Charlene showing us that functional fitness is for everyone and it’s never too late to start!
As we continue to navigate changes from the health department and with the holidays upon us we will be posting a weekly schedule instead of a monthly calendar for December. In our gym we call it functional fitness. When we do functional fitness each workout is different to target a different stimulus. There is a reason we want to keep workouts constantly varied besides keeping it interesting and enjoyable. Good form makes all the difference when it comes to lifting. It keeps injuries at bay and provides more power making the lift more effective and efficient. I captured a still shot of Courtney’s gorgeous triple extension (ankles, knees and hips all open with arms still straight). We can all get so far when it comes to raw strength, but in Olympic lifts it’s the technique that will get us past those plateaus. This is a beautiful example of harnessing all the power of the lower body to move the barbell to a high enough position to be able to pull under it. Nice work on your 15# PR Courtney Falter!

We all come from a family, choose friends as family, and sometimes become part of an unexpected family. This year has had so many unprecedented challenges, many of which are long from over. As my own family and I have navigated the continual changes to sports, school, socialization, and our businesses, one thing has remained constant, steady and normal, my gym family. In my heart I’ve always known what we do on a daily basis is more than just working out, losing weight, and... getting stronger. We are encouragement, voices of reason, anger management, stress relief, comic relief, parenting advice, marriage counseling, comfort, understanding and a place of solace for each other. We have navigated being shut down with online workouts and keeping each other accountable, to pop up driveway workouts (socially distanced of course) to opening back up with partial capacity, no more hugs/high fives, to feeling somewhat normal, to self quarantining because a family member was exposed, to wearing masks and trying to breathe all the while being grateful to still being open. This year has proven to me that we are resilient, adaptable, and stronger than ever. I am beyond grateful for my gym family, your ongoing support, adaptability, and willingness for change for whatever comes our way. Thank you for making my happy place happier, whether it’s virtual or not. Happy Thanksgiving to all and may you stay safe, happy, and adaptable. Coach Renee

In continuing efforts to keep our gym members safe and comply with the new Platte County Health Department mandates we will have a few changes for this week. We appreciate your understanding as we continue to navigate these unprecedented times. 1) As of Monday, November 23, 2020 masks will be required when entering the gym and throughout the duration of the workout for indoor workouts. This also applies to yoga and kickboxing classes. Outdoor workouts will not require a ma...sk as long as 6 feet distance is maintained. Children 5 and over accompanying adults must also wear a mask. Exceptions to this rule are individuals with specific medical issues that would be worsened by mask wearing. 2) Both our Functional Fitness 5k and our Community Workouts scheduled for this week will be available to gym members only to keep our numbers safe and within compliance. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your flexibility and continued support!
