Carpentry and Building Construction Technology at Ranken Technical College

Through the Ranken Community Development Corporation (RCDC), we have completed another successful single-family home. See the amazing job our students did on this St. Louis home. Ranken students receive hands-on experience in the construction and renovation of single-family homes. More than 60 homes to date have been completed. For each house, students and faculty members from Architectural Technology, Carpentry and Building Construction Technology, Plumbing Technology, Elect...rical Technology and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology use their skills to build houses in the neighborhood surrounding Ranken Technical College. With so many baby boomers retiring from the trades, the U.S. is going to need a lot more pipe-fitters, electricians, carpenters, welders but the problem is that not enough young people are getting that kind of training to fill the workforce need.

All three of the machinists on the First Place team at the National Institute for Metalworking Skills Competition are recent Ranken Precision Machining Technolo...gy graduates! Thirty-four teams from across the country entered in the competition that allotted six hours to model, program, set-up, machine, and inspect three parts with six different operations.
