Crew 2020:W2A starting off with a shakedown. Each summer the Ranger Program’s itinerary is different, but it’s foundation starts with backpacking, map and compass skills, and general wilderness survival techniques. As a staff we take every opportunity to try and teach what we can, this is the start, we provide suggestions as to gear which may not be necessary to carry then go into the ABC’s of backpacking; Accessibility, Balance, Compression.

The Scouts for now are content with a short afternoon siesta. Then we’ll have the lake to ourselves to explore via kayaks. The program is definitely providing a little bit of normal in a complicated time.
