Would you like to go deeper into the sermon today from Mark 5:21-43? Consider these insightful questions for your family and small group: - How has God revealed Himself to you today? - How would you feel if you were in Jairus’ situation? Describe how desperate you would be in seeking a cure for your child.... - Why does Jesus take so much time to heal the unclean woman when it seems like He should be rushing to heal Jairus’ daughter? How do we see His heart of compassion on display? - After Jairus’ daughter has been pronounced dead, it seems like all hope is lost. It is at this point, that Jairus is instructed to believe in Christ’s ability. Why is this kind of belief so necessary for us in our lives? - How is Christ your only hope in life and death? Give examples of how you are living out this truth.
Raintree Church Sunday Service June 20
On Sunday, we will be studying Mark 5:21-43 and consider how Jesus rules over disease and death. The dramatic unfolding of these verses blends two stories of completely different people: Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue who is pleading for his daughter to be healed, and a woman with a chronic disease. However, they both find themselves in desperate circumstances where Jesus is their only hope of healing and deliverance! Mark 5 is truly one of those chapters in the Bible t...hat speaks to people and situations when all human hopes have been exhausted. It is in this hopeless space that Jesus brings His death-defying hope and mercy. In the end, Jesus will continue to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom by calling for people to turn from their sins and fears and "only believe." I encourage you to read and meditate on our passage before Sunday. Ask God to reveal His truth and expose your heart, as well as give you the grace to walk in obedience to the truth it declares to your heart. Your fellow servant, Pastor Stephen
